TravelSkies Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 11, 2026

TravelSkies helps you check the weather along a driving route before you leave. We designed it to work without accounts and without collecting your personal data. This policy explains exactly what the app does with information.

Information we collect

None on our servers. TravelSkies has no user accounts, no analytics, and no advertising. We do not operate a TravelSkies server that receives your route data, and we do not sell or rent your information.

Location

Data stored on your device

Saved route names, stops, recent route-weather snapshots, and your preferences (units, preferred map app, and alert settings) are stored locally on your device. Snapshots are bounded and used for clearly labeled offline viewing. Delete a saved route to remove its saved snapshot, or delete the app to remove all app-local data.

Optional weather imagery

If optional imagery is enabled in a distributed build and you turn on its map layers, radar timeline and tile requests are sent to RainViewer, and cloud tile requests are sent to OpenWeather. These providers may receive ordinary network information such as your IP address and the requested map-tile coordinates. Radar and cloud imagery are independent of the WeatherKit route forecast and can be disabled without affecting core risk calculations.

Notifications

If you enable route risk alerts, notification content and schedules are generated on your device. Pending reminders may contain your route endpoints, forecast risk, hazard location, and expected encounter time so iOS can display an actionable alert. Enabling notifications does not send this information to a TravelSkies server.

Widgets and Live Activities

Optional widgets and Live Activities display selected route details, planned timing, forecast risk, and the next known hazard through Apple system surfaces. They use app-local data and planned route timing. TravelSkies does not collect continuous background location and does not operate a push server for Live Activity updates.

Your choices

Location access and notification permission can be revoked in iOS Settings. Route risk alerts can also be disabled inside TravelSkies, which cancels its pending route reminders. Saved routes and their offline snapshots can be deleted individually in the app. Appearance, units, preferred map app, and alert timing can be changed in Settings.

Children

TravelSkies is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
